Do You Dream in Color?

I have always heard that if you dream in color, you must be schizophrenic or have some other strange mental illness. I always dream in vivid, saturated color. I don't usually see the people clearly, I know who they are, they just don't LOOK like themselves. The color is the most vivid thing to me.
I have, however, polled my family and people I work with and most of them dream in black and white. I was just wondering how many people dream in color and what that is supposed to mean.
Two other related things...I am not in the least artistic, so it isn't because of some artsy part of my brain. Also, I have migraines occasionally and the vivid colors you see during one of those episodes remind me of that.

I believe that colorful dreams are a gift to be enjoyed and treasured. Maybe its a side-effect of my autism, but I have extremely detailed, and color-filled dreams. Mystic symbolism, dreams of the ancient past, other people’s dreams - I’ve had them all! Last night I dreamed an extraordinarily detailed horror movie, complete with emotions, which was very disturbing, but amazing in the scope of issues it touched on. Not my preferred nighttime entertainment, but notable, nonetheless.
No, I don’t think that dreaming in color is a hegative thing. Hopefully it’s just a sign of an overly-creative imagination. I consider it a blessing!
Years back I never even noticed, then after reading about the topic in a magazine, I started to be conscious and then found out that I did always dream in color. Often my dreams are like a cinema, with settings in places I’ve never even been before. There were times also that I dreamt of a place and then found myself going there and then telling myself, ‘this place looks familiar’, then realize that I’ve been in that place in my dreams! Yes, it truly must be a blessing! Hugs, Sarah!
schizophrenic? you should check out my blogs about this. They make up stuff and call it diagnosis but they have no actual tests to determine if people are actually sick. They have a book that lists symptoms that they can put together as a diagnosis for just about anything you can think of for the main purpose of turning a normal healthy person into a person with a mental illness. Mainly done for billing purposes. It’s really sad that this is the current state of that field. Here is a link to a few of the videos I found on this subject.

I agree that it is wonderful, how boring it would be to dream in black and white! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but I feel sad for those who only dream in b/w.
I have had one dream that I can remember that came true and I woke up gasping for breath. It was a phone call from my mother saying “it’s your dad”, and then it faded away and I couldn’t hear her anymore.
Six months or so later she called because my dad had passed away and I had a huge sense of deja vu along with the horrible news. I think her voice faded out in the dream because we didn’t know what was wrong with him at the time, so I couldn’t formulate a cause in my dream.?!
I agree, nightphoenix, thatthose that “diagnose” mental problems are not in touch with reality themselves. They are in an office and diagnose people based on books and pharmaceutical companies and have no life themselves. I really despise the state of medical and psychological care.
My hope, if I am ever diagnosed with a fatal medical condition, is to drive off into the sunset and sit on the beach or a mountaintop until the end. There will be no chemotherapy or numerous surgeries for this kid!
